Archive for the ‘Abuse of State Power (ASP)’ Category

This category is designed to cover the massive extensions of state powers under Acts like the Terrorism Act which has been used to spy on a lady suspected by a council of faking her address to get her child into a desirable school. The latest violation of our liberties is the giving of powers to search homes, freeze bank accounts and confiscate people’s property to agencies like Transport for London, councils, the Royal Mail all without a magistrate’s warrant nor with the sanction of the police (although this latter is not much of a safeguard these days). All this under the Proceeds of Crime Act POCA.
ASP describes a form of poisonous snake so is a highly appropriate acronym for this atrocious attack on the liberties of British citizens.
