Uncontrolled flow of EU Nationals into Britain

The Daily Telegraph (7th May 2016) interview with Michael Gove, failed to elicit one mention of the biggest single issue which the electorate expect to be resolved following a Leave vote. That is putting a stop to the uncontrolled flow of EU nationals into Britain her and now, not the flows which might arise from Turkey getting access to Britain sometime in the future, important as this is.

Some people are beginning to think the Vote Leave leadership is shy of gripping the present-day immigration issue, although this is the only way to get them the result they say they want. Certainly few voters for Leave will settle for anything less than the work permit system as currently applied to Australian, Canadian and New Zealand citizens, being applied to EU nationals. This system could be brought in through the new laws which Mr Gove proposed in the article should be introduced, “the day after Brexit to protect Britain’s borders and security”. These will be needed in any case to prevent a last-minute rush from Eastern and Southern European countries.
