This paper by Prof Stephen Bush is based on an Address given to the Schools’ Industrial Liaison Committee at Oundle School in May 1990. It was first published by Prosyma Research Ltd as a booklet in 1990, as part of a series on Britain’s Future “Independence or Extinction”, at a time when our membership of the newly defined European Union and the terms of that membership were being negociated.
